The former Superintendent’s House at Druid Hill Park, built in 1872, had sat unused, neglected, vandalized and deteriorating for years. However, the former eyesore is undergoing a reconstruction (see below) thanks to the
Parks & People Foundation, a local non-profit organization that acquired the virtually empty shell in 1995. The building will be its new headquarters, and other plans are in place for the surrounding property.
Like many of the park’s original structures, the house was designed by George A. Frederick, the architect of Baltimore’s City Hall.
