University Baptist Church

Architect John Russell Pope is a nationally recognized name in architecture, known for designing the National Gallery of Art and the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC. In Baltimore, however, he has several "monumental" designs too.

One Pope building in Baltimore is the University Baptist Church, built in the 1920s and located near the Baltimore Museum of Art, which he also designed. The "university" in the name refers to Johns Hopkins University, as the church was reportedly conceived as part of a plan by Pope for the Homewood campus, but the church was the only part of Pope's plan that was  actually constructed.

Looking classic from any angle, the buiding also looks great in the snow.
