Historic Annapolis

A spring, summer or early fall visit to downtown Annapolis can be a welcome warm weather day trip for Baltimoreans looking to enjoy historic landmarks and architecture, shops, restaurants, and an often sailboat-filled City Dock and harbor that can be enjoyed from many viewpoints. Other points of interest include the William Paca House, the United States Naval Academy, the Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College, and the Banneker-Douglass Museum, named for famous local African-Americans Benjamin Banneker and Frederick Douglass and dedicated to African American heritage.

Outside brunch enjoyed in the photo below took place at Harry Browne’s Restaurant, across the street from the iconic 1772 Maryland State House, the oldest U.S. state capitol building in continuous legislative use.
