Baltimore’s harbor is not only the home of the USS Constellation, but we are also one of the East Coast destinations for historic tall ships from around the world, from spring to fall, thanks to Sail Baltimore. The organization was founded in 1975 by Mayor William Donald Schaefer to prepare the city to participate in Operation Sail 1976 for the Bicentennial celebration. Since then, Baltimore has hosted more than 750 ships, including tall ships, as well as high-tech naval warships and other vessels too.
